Coin Flip is the shortest game in the Tonza Originals set: one toss, two outcomes, nothing to time or manage. That simplicity is exactly why it attracts so much confused reasoning. An even chance and an even bet are different things, and the gap between them is where the house edge lives.
What is actually 50/50
The toss is. Every Originals round is built from three inputs: a server seed whose hash is published before you play, a client seed that belongs to you, and a round counter (nonce). The server commits to its half of the input before the bet exists and cannot rewrite it afterwards. Any completed round can be recomputed by hand on the Provably Fair page, which also holds the round history and the verification calculator.
The money is not 50/50. Stake and payout are deliberately asymmetric, and that asymmetry — not the coin — is where the margin sits.
Where the 2% comes from
Coin Flip carries a stated RTP of 98%: over a long run the game returns 98 units for every 100 staked. With two equally likely outcomes, that figure is arithmetically identical to paying 1.96 on a winning toss instead of the break-even 2.00.

Two numbers, one margin, and they are easy to confuse. The 0.04 gap appears only on rounds you win; averaged across both outcomes it works out to 2% of every unit staked. That 2% is not taken from your deposit and not skimmed off a payout — it is priced into the multiplier and paid out of turnover, whichever way the round lands.
Turnover, not luck, drives the number
Because the edge applies to turnover, expected loss scales linearly with stake size and round count. Calling heads or tails correctly does not change it.

Originals accept stakes from 0.1 to 10,000 in the account currency, so turnover accumulates faster than a single line of history suggests. Short sessions are dominated by variance and can land anywhere; long sessions converge on the 2% line.
Streaks have no memory
Six heads in a row do not make tails more likely on the seventh toss. The nonce increments and the inputs change, but nothing in the scheme links one round to the next — each result is computed from scratch. Over a thousand rounds, a run of six identical outcomes is ordinary, not a signal that a correction is due.
The same applies to "hot" sides in the history panel. That panel records what already happened; provably fair confirms those rounds were not altered after the bet and says nothing whatsoever about the next one.
Why doubling up fails
Martingale — doubling the stake after every loss — is usually sold as a way around the 2%. It is not. Each bet inside the progression still pays the same 2% on its own size, and the progression's only reliable effect is pushing more money through the game per hour. Every doubling sequence then meets either your balance or the upper bet limit: starting at 1, an eight-loss run leaves you 255 down and asking for 256 on the ninth attempt, and a run that long turns up roughly once in 256 tries.
Progressions reshape the distribution of outcomes — many small wins, one rare deep drawdown — without touching the expected value. Frequency is traded for severity, not for an advantage.
What you can actually control
- Stake relative to balance. The only lever that changes how fast a bankroll is consumed.
- Session length. Fewer rounds means less turnover and a result closer to coin-toss noise.
- Turnover rebates. The VIP programme returns up to 5% cashback from the second tier upward. It reduces the net cost of play; it does not invert the edge.
